Contrails in the sky indicate that our atmosphere has changed
Next to people HAARPing on about scalar weapons and UFOs, so-called ‘chemtrails’ are probably one of the most talked about topics in the alt.net community. The proliferation of psuedo-scientific nonsense has exploded online to the point that every time an unusual weather event or natural disaster occurs, you just know it won’t be long before chemtrails or HAARP or both will be brought up. I’m well aware that the High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program is high military stuff, but its purpose is to mess with people’s minds, not mess with the weather. And messing with your mind may definitely include inducing you to believe, against the evidence, that the government is “in control of the weather.” Certainly, there is some kind of atmospheric spraying going on in many places, but this activity is mainly aimed at 1) providing a bounce screen for HAARP mind control waves; 2) providing fuel for the rumors that the government is in control by dribbling a few toxic substances onto the masses which 3) can make people sick and thus more susceptible to the mind control waves.
Just today, Laura received a question from a reader of her books who is unfamiliar with the work published on SOTT.NET that deals more directly with real-world issues, and both the question and answer are so succinct in respect of this topic, I’m going to include it right here at the beginning before I go into details.
Reader Question: Could the earthquakes in Iran and the “dryness” be caused by seismic and climatic high tech weapons?
Answer: Earthquakes could possibly be cause by satellite based weapons. Weather issues, I’m afraid, are not. Weather is nonlinear and nobody in his right mind would meddle with it. Obviously they try to, but with very limited results and it usually backfires on them. Their inputs are just so small they don’t perturb the system very much. (The same applies to “anthropogenic global warming.) Plus, notice the most important clue: that the weather is changing dramatically on the other planets in our solar system which suggests a more “cosmic” cause. Also notice the other interesting phenomena such as increasing volcanic eruptions (keep in mind that 75% of the planet’s volcanoes are under water and appear to be erupting with greater frequency lately), sinkholes, torrential rains landslides everywhere on a scale previously unknown, heating of the troposphere from internal heat of the earth, combined with cooling and sinking of the stratosphere, comet/meteor dust loading of the stratosphere resulting in noctilucent clouds being seen further south than ever before. Then, there is the meandering of the jet stream. Put that together with the really sad performance of the sun during this maximum, the puzzling decrease of the Earth’s magnetic field, the increase in electrical activity, including the now well-known “mysterious sounds” phenomena, and you get the impression that something outside the solar system or at least at the edges of it, is “grounding the current flow” through all the planets and things are definitely getting interesting.
That describes the situation in a nutshell. And naturally, the PTB would like all of you to believe that they are behind all of this sort of thing with the exception of global warming which is, of course, YOUR fault, not theirs! As SOTT has pointed out again and again, historically, when a people begin to perceive that the Cosmos is “against them”, their first – and natural – reaction is to find a scapegoat, and the most obvious one is, of course, their leaders. During repeating periods in history when famines, earthquakes, plagues have struck and taken a heavy toll, when volcanoes erupt or comets blaze across the sky or meteor storms and weather anomalies increase, the target has always and ever been the ruling classes, going back to the most ancient times when the king was ritually sacrificed to appease the Storm Gods in their various appearances.
It is no different now. Just as the PTB would like you to think that they are “hiding the truth about aliens because they are in cahoots with them” or that the aerial phenomena that many think are “aliens” is just “secret government experiments,” because they know what happens when the rulers appear to be being chastised by the “gods”, so is it exactly the same in respect of their helplessness in the face of planetary and Cosmic phenomena.
Getting on with our topic: a couple of things ought to be clarified at the outset. Weather modification involves cloud seeding, usually to encourage rainfall in drought-stricken areas, and has been practiced since the 1950s. Geo-engineering covers a number of crazy ideas, some of which are apparently being put into practice. It’s the Franken-science of global warmists who are fronting money for experiments they hope will re-modify the climate back to the way they believe it was before. It’s absolutely nuts of course. Not only do they not understand how weather/climate is created to begin with; they intend to mess with it to ‘save the planet.’ The richly dark irony here is that their bright ideas may actually contribute to speeding up the climate shift into an ice age.
Contrails, not ‘Chemtrails’
Chemtrailers believe that the US military is responsible for creating the persistent contrails and cloud cover we observe in the skies today. As noted above, indeed, some spraying is happening, but for very different reasons than the “true believers” suppose. What’s more, MOST of what is being seen are simply contrails, ice crystals forming in an obviously lowered and much cooler stratosphere. How is a contrail supposed to behave? Contrails are long thin artificial clouds made of water – in the form of liquid droplets or ice crystals – that sometimes form behind aircraft.

What gets chemtrailers excited is seeing contrails suspended in the sky for hours that often spread to become several miles wide, or even cover the sky from horizon to horizon if they live under or near busy flight traffic areas where many aircraft traverse at high altitude. A lingering contrail may even blow in your direction without you ever seeing any aircraft because our atmosphere has a number of layers and each layer has its own temperature and wind speed and direction and, very often, things in one layer take a very long time and distance to mix or mingle with other layers, IF they mix at all. Usually, the wind speeds in the upper layers are such that anything deposited there might only penetrate to lower layers after many thousands of miles of travel. In short, if it is in the stratosphere and lingers there, it is probably just contrails in an altered planetary atmosphere layer, or it is a bounce screen for HAARP waves.
Additionally, jet aircraft pollution undoubtedly has a negative environmental impact, but it is just one more source of environmental pollution joining a long list: atmospheric nuclear testing, the prevalence of depleted uranium munitions in war zones, oil spills, toxic sludge produced by farming the planet’s topsoil to death, urban sprawl, etc..
Chemtrailers claim that dangerous chemical compounds, heavy metals and viruses are being released into the atmosphere in copious quantities and are causing toxicological effects – everything from heavy metal poisoning, Morgellons Disease and respiratory illnesses in humans to plant and animal deaths and degradation of the biosphere in general. They argue that the contrails of aircraft should be dissipating and that the long white streaks and increased cloud cover we see are evidence that a worldwide conspiracy is under way to fit commercial and military jets with technology that releases poisonous substances behind the aircraft as they fly through the atmosphere. As noted, this can be true in a limited number of instances. But take note here: anything that precipitates to the ground under the area where it is sprayed, must be released in the troposphere, not the stratosphere where most jets fly and contrails form.
Chemical dispersants used in the Gulf oil spill: We live in an extremely toxic world as it is. When seen in its totality, the plain truth is more horrifying than anything paranoid chemtrailers could come up with.
Focusing on three elements in particular, the chemtrailers point to high levels of aluminium, barium and stronthium found in soil and water samples as evidence that they must come from jet aircraft. Aluminium is the third most abundant element (after oxygen and silicon) and the most abundant metal in the Earth’s crust. Because of its high chemical reactivity, barium is never found in nature as a free element, but barium compounds are used as an “atmospheric aerosol spray for enhancing/refracting the signalling of radio/radar waves along military jet flight paths, missile test ranges.” That’s military jet flight paths, so toxicology results indicating high levels of barium in water sources nearby are hardly surprising. I’m not sure what form of stronthium chemtrailers are picking up in water and soil tests, but I do know that the Stronthium-90 isotope is present in radioactive fallout.
Now there’s an issue hardly anyone talks about. If you want clear evidence of the Powers That Be using our atmosphere as a physics laboratory on a massive scale, check out the sickening number of atmospheric nuclear tests they carried out in the second half of the 20th Century.
Given the global, daily prevalence of persistent contrails in the atmosphere over the past twenty years, for this to be the result of a secret government scheme, every available aircraft on the planet would have to be retrofitted for spraying and refilled with supplies of evilness at airports everywhere. Can you imagine the logistics involved in enlisting all commercial fleets, coordinating teams of evil-doers for maintenance at every airport and keeping it all under wraps? With the great uncertainty of anything being deposited in the stratosphere every reaching the ground, much less, any specific target area?
Why in the world are folks still talking about ‘Chemtrails’?
A documentary called What in the World are they Spraying? seems to be one of the spearheads in the chemtrail awareness ‘movement’, produced by persistent chemtrailer Michael J. Murphy, “a journalist and activist from Los Angeles”, whose follow-up production, Why in the World are they Spraying, will be premiered on August 18th at ‘Consciousness Beyond Chemtrails 2012′, a three-day conference in Los Angeles. For $96, you can attend to hear Scott Stevens, a former TV weatherman who features in the chemtrail documentaries and sells monoatomic gold on his website – touting it as a cure-all against the effects of so-called chemtrails! Shades of Jim Humble and MMS! He will be joined onstage by some of the usual disinformation suspects including Alfred Webre (of ‘exopolitics’ fame), Leuren Moret (“the earthquake, tsunami and Fukushima nuclear accident on March 11th, 2011, were deliberate acts of tectonic nuclear warfare”), Kerry Cassidy from Project Camelot and Jeffrey M. Smith, campaigner against GMOs. I’m surprised to see Smith on their list of speakers. He was apparently invited because “chemtrails heavy metal fall-out creates soil that can only support GMO crops and trees.” No doubt their message will fall into line with other chemtrailers like Rosalind Peterson, whose solution to ‘chemtrails’ is to ‘take action now to stop the government from doing this to us!’
What’s interesting in all of this is that the US mainstream media, including national TV broadcasters, are giving chemtrails a veneer of credibility by countenancing them as a reality – despite everything they entail regarding elements of the US government covertly poisoning its own people through the air transit system as part of a global depopulation program. Well, they certainly have carried out horrific experiments – which no doubt continue to this day – but they will surely be aware that there are far more cost-effective ways to control people.
Mick West at contrailscience.com has collected evidence that debunks chemtrailers’ claims about the Secret Government retrofitting commercial aircraft. In the following video he tackles some of their central claims:
It isn’t exactly hard to dismiss chemtrails as loony. Easily available evidence contradicts chemtrail truthers’ claims – certainly their wilder claims anyway. The problem arises when debunkers say there’s nothing to the chemtrail phenomenon at all. As noted, there probably is SOME outrageous spraying going on. Governments are on the record as saying that they’ve been engaging in (or plan to engage in) geo-engineering. Then we must allow for the fact that these kinds of things are usually going on way before they are officially acknowledged. So it’s quite plausible that all kinds of kooky experimental or even fully operational spraying programs with unmarked military aircraft were taking place in the 1990s.
But the bigger problem with dismissing the ‘chemtrail’ phenomenon out of hand is that it obscures the real issue. Contrails ARE actually hanging around longer and forming cloud cover because the atmosphere has changed. Pointing out the noise but ignoring the valid observations people are making about changes in our skies is to toss the baby out with the bathwater.
This is similar to the way man-made global warming aka anthropogenic global warming (AGW) is countered by folks saying nothing untoward is going on with the climate. Climate change IS taking place, but AGW has nothing to do with it. Jet contrails ARE behaving weirdly, but aluminium oxide, elite-controlled depopulation agendas and lab-created viruses have nothing to do with that.
What contrails are really telling us
Laura Knight-Jadczyk outlined a far more probable scenario in Chemtrails? Contrails? Strange Skies: If the water vapor from aircraft contrails has not been dissipating in the past twenty years as it used to, instead remaining persistent and forming patterns that resemble cirrus clouds (that are normally found at far higher altitudes than passenger aircraft fly between), then the logical conclusion is that the cold layer of the upper atmosphere has fallen lower. More aircraft flying at lower altitudes are forming contrails in that icy air which used to be the much higher domain of cirrus clouds. It is not the composition of jet contrails that has changed: what we’re seeing is contrails of jet aircraft ‘frozen’ or suspended within a medium that has changed.
It turns out that there is evidence that our atmosphere has shrunk, in very recent times, bringing cooler layers much lower than normal:

These plots show how the density of the thermosphere (at a fiducial height of 400 km) has waxed and waned during the past four solar cycles. Frames (a) and (c) are density; frame (b) is the sun’s radio intensity at a wavelength of 10.7 cm, a key indicator of solar activity. Note the yellow circled region. In 2008 and 2009, the density of the thermosphere was 28% lower than expectations set by previous solar minima. The thermospheric collapse of 2008-2009 was not only bigger than any previous collapse, but also bigger than the sun alone could explain.
So yes, artificial cloud cover is being created, but it is for the most part wholly unintentional, an unexpected consequence of the changes in our atmosphere. Beyond jet contrails, we can see that our atmosphere has changed because of other phenomena like spectacular trails being left down by rocket launches, iridescent clouds, sun halos, roll clouds and more, all of which has been more noticeable since the late 1980s to the early 1990s.
‘Chemtrails’ are a smokescreen
One of the main points raised in the first Why in the World film was environmental toxicity, which was attributed to what was being “released in the chemtrails” to the exclusion of other, more mundane but less sensational explanations, such as munitions testing, industrial pollution, etc.

Yes, the air, water and soil all over the planet are choked with aluminum, barium, stronthium along with countless other heavy metals. Yes, whole species in the plant and animal kingdoms are dying en masse. Yes, the human species appears to be going the same way as the destruction it is causing on the planet.
But between HAARP and chemtrails, COINTELPRO is working at full tilt to convince people that the mass animal deaths, extreme weather, increase in earthquakes – in short, all the Earth Changes we’re cataloguing on Sott.net – are caused by secret government programs. For some of these chemtrail truthers, the screen is so big that if those same folks saw meteors and fireballs in the sky they would probably call them a new type of ‘chemtrail’.
This goes way beyond just explaining away trails/strange clouds in the sky. A whole narrative has been created where chemtrails explain ALL ‘anomalies’ resulting from the Sixth Extinction. Just as the global warming/CO2 emissions narrative was enlarged to explain the extremely cold winters we have been experiencing, chemtrails have become the equivalent catch-all in the alt.net community, where a lot of wild speculation is going on – fueled, of coursed, by the Powers That Be.

So-called ‘Solar Radiation Management’ won’t work as it’s supposed to, of course. It takes extraordinary hubris to believe that you possess the technological capabilities of regulating how much sun reaches the planet’s surface. I guess that that’s down to science having been taken over by psychopaths. But also, and much more importantly, getting these stories out there is important to the Powers That Be because people are sitting up and noticing that Something Is Going On.
Whether or not such schemes actually work is besides the point. Just hyping them up reassures people that someone’s doing something to take care of the situation, that Big Brother/Big Government remains in control. Chemtrails give people hope that they can take back the government and right all the wrongs. Believing in AGW is far more attractive of course because it tastes much sweeter and is a lot less paranoid: in this case, the reckoning has been pushed back some 50+ years in the future, by which time water levels might have risen and some coastal cities might have become inundated, thus inviting people to believe that there’s nothing really that urgent going on right now.
Whether you believe in the ‘chemtrails’ disinformation program or the ‘man-made global warming’ disinformation program, the net result of both is the same: neither groups of believers can see that the extraordinary events happening in and around the planet are the result of a natural process that is going to turn our world upside down within the next few years.
A Real ‘Depopulation’ Scenario
The chemtrailers’ belief that Morgellons Disease originates from viruses being sprayed from above opens up something with potentially far worse consequences than anything nefarious government plots could pull off: comet-borne pathogens.
NASA recently went on the record as saying that meteor dust from meteor explosions in the stratosphere is the nucleating agent around which noctilucent clouds form. Furthermore, some of this material can reach lower levels of the atmosphere and seed clouds. And some of these clouds rain down more than just water and snow…

A rare shower of red rain fell for about 15 minutes in the city of Kannur, Kerala, India, early on June 28. Local residents were perturbed, but this is not the first time the state has experienced colored rain.
This strange phenomenon was first recorded in Kerala a few hours after a meteor airburst in July 2001, when a space rock exploded in the atmosphere. More than 120 such rain showers were reported that year, including yellow, green, and black ones.
Astrobiologist Godfrey Louis, pro vice-chancellor at nearby Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), has studied samples of red rainwater in 2001 and discovered strange properties, including autofluorescence – light that is naturally emitted by cell structures like mitochondria.
Scientific analysis showed the striking red coloration is due to microscopic particles resembling biological cells, possibly originating from comet fragments.
“Such comets can break into fragments as they near the sun during their travel along highly elliptical orbits,” he told The Epoch Times via email. “These fragments can remain in orbit and later can enter Earth’s atmosphere periodically.” [...]
These “alien” cells resemble normal cells, but lack conventional biological molecules like DNA, and are expected to have different biochemistry.
“Unlike other biological cells, these red rain microbes can withstand very high temperatures,” Louis explained. “It is possible to culture them at temperatures as high as 300 degrees centigrade [572 degrees Fahrenheit].”
Remember the Black Death? It wasn’t rats carrying bubonic plague that wiped out half of Europe’s population. There is strong circumstantial evidence that the plague actually came on the back of a comet…

According to the late Sir Fred Hoyle and Chandra Wickramasinghe of the University of Wales at Cardiff, viruses can be distributed throughout space by dust in the debris stream of comets. Then as Earth passes though the stream, the dust and viruses load our atmosphere, where they can stay suspended for years until gravity pulls them down. They compare numerous plagues throughout our history which coincide with cometary bodies in our skies. These researchers are certain that germs causing plagues and epidemics come from space. [...]
Rhawn Joseph, Ph.D., co-authoring researcher with Wickramasinghe in the book Biology Cosmology, Astrobiology, and the Origins and Evolution of Life, argues that cometary debris, and the smaller particles and any microbes and viral particles attached to cometary debris impacting earth, fall upon the upper atmosphere and then slowly drift upon the air currents, sometimes staying aloft for years, crisscrossing the planet and gently falling downward, until finally making a soft landing on whatever is beneath them – be it ocean, river, animal, plant, or woman and man. In fact, it is known that microorganisms exist in significant concentrations in Earth’s atmosphere, and they have been found in air samples collected at heights ranging from 41 km to 77 km. The natural mechanisms which transport microorganisms into the atmosphere are storms, volcanoes, monsoons, and cometary impact events.
You see, there really is a strong chance that widespread depopulation will reach us via the atmosphere, but it won’t come out of jet aircraft.
The real conspiracy
In 2007 Comet McNaught showed us how comets deposit material into the inner solar system, spraying an enormous amount of comet dust. When Earth passes through this material, it eventually descends through the atmosphere’s layers.
It’s easier to believe that a grand conspiracy is behind these signs of impending cataclysmic upheaval because at root people WANT to believe that their government, the secret government, the private banking elite – any government will do – is powerful enough to control nature such that the floods, wildfires, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, etc. that we’re seeing now on a daily basis are man-made events, all part of an agenda to depopulate the planet and keep it to themselves.
That may well be their target but key to achieving that is doing whatever it takes to keep people from realising that there is nothing any government entity can do to prevent cataclysmic upheaval. They are happy for nonsense like ‘chemtrails’ to proliferate because, like man-made global warming, it keeps people believing that something can be done to reverse the processes of environmental change. It also keeps them distracted from realising the awful truth: that the elite they believe so capable of such god-like feats are actually planning to bunk down and let the cataclysms run their course and do the culling for them.
Chemtrailers believe themselves to be open-minded and call on people to ‘wake up to the truth’, but, whether they realise it or not, they are actually doing the elite a massive favor.
Our environment is changing and human intervention has nothing to do with it. Chemtrailers and Warmists share the same problem: an inability to move beyond an anthropological worldview where man believes he is in control.
We’re not in control; the Cosmos is. And the changes in our climate are evidence that the Cosmos is cleaning house.
